User Information
You may access our services by signing up for an OCR Terminal Account and providing us with some personal information (typically your userid, email address and a password). This account information will be used to authenticate you when you access OCR Terminal services and protect your account from unauthorized access by others.
Your user account details are stored in a secure database on our servers so we can identify you, and ensure that nobody but you can access your files.
We respect your privacy and will never share your information to any unauthorized third party. If we ever share your information with a trusted partner, you will always be asked if you want to opt in to any correspondence with them.
Cookies
"Cookies" are small data files that reside on your computer and allow us to recognize you as someone who uses OCR Terminal. These cookies help us record when your account is signed in so you don't have to re-enter the username and password multiple times.
These cookies are returned only to ocrterminal.com and they expire in 8 hours.
Information Collection
Apart from cookies and user details, we collect use some other bits of information for different purposes
Visitor tracking: We use Google Analytics to track user access patterns on the website. Google Analytics presents users with Javascript and a cookie. Google analytics keeps all visitor information secure - reports don't include identifiable information about OCR Terminal's users. All transactions are protected using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
Other information: When you visit OCR Terminal, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. This information may include, but is not limited to, your computer's Internet Protocol address, browser type, the web page you were visiting before you came to our site and information you search for on our site.
How we use user information

The content of uploaded files are never used for any of the purposes mentioned above
Nobody (including our employees) is allowed access to any user's personal information or the uploaded files. Passwords provided by users for account creation are stored as one-way hashes.
Uploaded Files
All file uploads from your browser to our server are encrypted using industry-standard HTTPS connections.
The uploaded files are processed and are then set aside for deletion. No backups of the files are made - this is to ensure confidentiality of user's uploaded documents. Even our employees are not allowed to access these files.
Our servers are being managed by Amazon (Amazon Web Services) who regularly obtain the strictest of industry certifications in order to provide a secure computing environment- an overview of their security processes can be found here (PDF).
Your uploaded files are only stored on our servers so we can process them. File meta-data - file type, file name and time uploaded - will be backed up, but your file content are never backed up, and are deleted regularly.

We encourage our users to be aware when they are leaving our site and to read the privacy statements of each Website that collects personally identifiable information.
